Oklahoma City basketball fans have another reason to get excited: the hit NBA docuseries Starting 5 is back for a second season, and this time the spotlight is shining on Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The series, which debuted last year, takes viewers behind the scenes with some of the league’s biggest names, blending on-court action with personal stories of family, sacrifice, and the pursuit of greatness.

Season 1 featured legends like LeBron James and Jimmy Butler. But now, after the Thunder’s historic run to the NBA Finals, Oklahoma City is front and center.

The 2024-25 season was one for the ages in Oklahoma. SGA led the Thunder to the best record in the Western Conference, powering a playoff charge that captivated the city and ended in a seven-game Finals matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

That showdown also set the stage for Starting 5 Season 2, which pairs Gilgeous-Alexander with another rising star and Finals rival, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers.

Netflix said the season will premiere on October 16.

Who’s in the cast of Starting 5 Season 2?

  1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder): The face of the Thunder and one of the NBA’s brightest young superstars. After finishing runner-up in the 2024 MVP race and guiding OKC to the Finals, SGA enters this season as a legitimate MVP favorite and championship contender.
  2. Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers): Oklahoma City fans know his name well after last season’s Finals duel. The Pacers guard is a rising star in the East, and his story continues to unfold in Season 2.
  3. Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics): Fresh off an NBA championship and Finals MVP, Brown looks to cement Boston’s dominance alongside his teammate Jayson Tatum, who starred in Season 1.
  4. Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns): The Oklahoma City legend returns to the spotlight. Durant, one of the game’s greatest scorers and a former Thunder superstar, is chasing another championship while leading the Suns.
  5. James Harden (Los Angeles Clippers): Still searching for his first NBA title, former OKC player Harden’s chase for a ring continues as he tries to push the Clippers over the top in the loaded Western Conference.
