Wide receiver Keontez Lewis is listed as “Probable.” That’s great news after leaving last Saturday’s win over Temple with what appeared to be a potential concussion. Lewis has been a key playmaking pass catcher for John Mateer this season (15 catches, 181 yards, 2 TDs)
Three starting offensive linemen are listed as “Questionable.” Michael Fasusi, Jake Maikkula and Febechi Nwaiwu represent 60% of the trenches that will depend on to keep a stout Auburn defensive line off of John Mateer. If even one of them couldn’t play, that would be a major setback, considering three offensive linemen (Troy Everett, Jacob Sexton and Jake Taylor) are already listed as “Out” for this game.
Also concerning, starting defensive end Marvin Jones, Jr. is listed as “Questionable.” Oklahoma will already be without its best pass rusher, R Mason Thomas, in the first half due to a targeting penalty last week at Temple. If Jones didn’t play, the Sooners would be significantly hampered on the defensive line.
Running back Damari Alston is listed as “Probable.” Alston is considered the Tigers' best ball carrier, but he left with an injury in the opener against Baylor and hasn’t played the last two weeks. If Alston is indeed back, it will give Auburn a dynamic one-two punch with Alston and Jeremiah Cobb in the backfield.
Starting cornerback Jay Crawford is listed as “Doubtful.” Crawford was dinged up last Saturday against South Alabama. The Tigers' secondary is already considered the weakness of their defense. If Crawford doesn’t play, it could make things even more comfortable for John Mateer and the OU passing game.
