The Oklahoma City Thunder and Devon Energy are teaming up to teach children about science through basketball.

Tanner Sikes said the program visits PE classes across the metro, using basketball drills to help kids learn concepts like potential energy, kinetic energy, acceleration and velocity.

“We think it’s important to tie this education in with our drills,” Sikes said.

Each participating student and school receives a gift, along with a poster for their gym to review the concepts covered.

The coaches leading the program are the same ones who assist with Thunder Youth Basketball camps throughout the year. Sikes said the curriculum was designed by Engaged Learning.

Schools that want to participate in this program can visit HERE.
