The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) is hosting an open house on September 23 to announce where the south extension will move.
Why is OTA hosting the open house?
- OTA Spokesperson Terri Angier says the plan is to connect with the homeowners.
- Offer homeowners fair market value and help with relocation efforts if necessary.
- Hear homeowners' concerns on the turnpike alignment
Why is OTA adding the turnpike?
- Angier says the problem is the congestion and the number of accidents on I-35.
- OTA is unable to handle the higher volume of traffic, and it has become a concern for the Department of Transportation.
When is the open house?
- September 24, 27, and 29
Where is the open house?
- OTA plans to announce the meeting location in a few days
Next steps after open houses
- OTA will begin working with design firms
- They will hire engineers to start working on the alignment
