OTA to host open house announcing where south extension project will move

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) is hosting an open house on September 23, to announce where the south extension will move.

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) is hosting an open house on September 23 to announce where the south extension will move.  

Why is OTA hosting the open house? 

  1. OTA Spokesperson Terri Angier says the plan is to connect with the homeowners. 
  2. Offer homeowners fair market value and help with relocation efforts if necessary.
  3. Hear homeowners' concerns on the turnpike alignment 

Why is OTA adding the turnpike? 

  1. Angier says the problem is the congestion and the number of accidents on I-35.  
  2. OTA is unable to handle the higher volume of traffic, and it has become a concern for the Department of Transportation. 

When is the open house? 

  1. September 24, 27, and 29

Where is the open house? 

  1. OTA plans to announce the meeting location in a few days 

Next steps after open houses 

  1. OTA will begin working with design firms
  2. They will hire engineers to start working on the alignment
