Bud Light is kicking off the college football season with a new campaign starring comedian Shane Gillis and the return of its popular limited-edition team cans. The promotion, which includes schools across the country, highlights the passion and pride of college football fans while offering unique game-day experiences.
Fans of Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma will once again be able to show their school spirit with Bud Light’s custom cans. The designs feature full-bleed school colors, logos and new jersey-inspired stripes, giving supporters another way to celebrate their teams at home, at tailgates or in bars across the state.
The OSU and OU cans are part of a lineup representing 28 schools nationwide. Bud Light says the packaging is available now wherever the beer is sold in participating markets.
Beyond the cans, Bud Light is rolling out a sweepstakes with prizes including tickets to a college game of choice, Fanatics gift cards, and even a meet-and-greet with Gillis. Fans 21 and older can enter through October 15 by scanning QR codes on the team cans or in-store displays.
The brand is also planning events tied to major matchups, including appearances by former college football players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton of the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast.
The broader campaign includes a new commercial called “Vendor Voices,” co-written by Gillis and John McKeever. The spot pokes fun at the struggles of trying to flag down a beer vendor in a packed stadium.
It will run throughout the college football season on ABC, NBC, ESPN and FOX.
