Emergency crews responded to a deadly crash Wednesday morning near 71st Street and Lewis Avenue after a pedestrian was hit by a car, according to Tulsa police.

Officers say a woman was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when she walked in front of a car. The woman was hit, struck the windshield, and fell to the ground.

She was taken to a hospital in serious condition but later died from her injuries.

Police say the driver of the car stopped at the scene and cooperated with officers. Investigators do not believe the driver was at fault, stating the pedestrian appeared to have walked directly into the vehicle’s path.

Officers said this stretch of roadway has seen similar crashes in the past and continues to be a concern for pedestrian safety.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
