A lot of kids grow up dreaming of becoming a race car driver, but that dream can come with a hefty price tag.

One Oklahoma nonprofit is helping young racers hit the gas on their goals.

On this racetrack, Opportunity Ride is fueling more than speed—it’s fueling dreams.

The nonprofit was started by Lisa Reagle and provides scholarships, sponsorships, and mentorship to young racers, removing the financial roadblocks that often keep kids out of the sport.

“You hear about soccer, baseball, and softball, you know, different sports, but you don’t hear a lot about the youth who are interested in racing. So, we wanted to change that,” said Reagle.

“Tires are 200 bucks, 300 dollars for a tire,” Landen said. “That’s for one tire. In a night, you could easily shred one. Motors are like five grand, shocks are 200 to 300 bucks apiece. It’s just little stuff like that that adds up a lot.”

Bennett Smith was once scraping by just to pursue his passion for racing.

“I was kind of funding myself, going through tire walls, dumpsters, anything to keep me racing on the racetrack,” he said.

Now, he’s on a full scholarship, chasing big goals with a team that believes in him.

“I think it’s absolutely amazing just to go to the next level and have such a great support system,” Bennett said.

That support system is everything to every kid on the track.

“They really are the nicest people that I think I’ve ever met,” Kaleb Roberts said.

“Lisa is awesome,” Hunter McCown said. “She helps us all out all the time. If we have questions about something, she answers them. She’s always there like a little supporter in the background.”

Opportunity Ride keeps these young drivers chasing what they love—and chasing it fast.
