The NFL preseason got underway on Thursday night with the annual Hall of Fame Game taking place from Canton, Ohio.
This year's game featured the Chargers and Lions, which meant former OU Sooner Tony Jefferson was in action. A safety entering his 11th year in the league, Jefferson didn't take long to show the league he has plenty left in the tank.
On a pass to the end zone by Detroit in the first quarter, Jefferson tracked the ball and intercepted the pass. About to start his second season in Los Angeles, Jefferson played in eight games last year for the Chargers, racking up 17 tackles and two stuffs at the line of scrimmage.
For his career, Jefferson has over 385 solo tackles to go with 9.5 sacks and four interceptions.
Training camp, meanwhile, for other teams is going strong. For Carolina and former OSU running back Cuba Hubbard, the goal in 2025 is to snap a seven-year playoff drought.
Entering his fifth season with the Panthers since being drafted in the fourth round in 2021, Hubbard signed a four-year extension with Carolina last November worth $33 million.
Hubbard had his best campaign yet in 2024, racking up 1,195 rushing yards to go with 11 total touchdowns.
