Investigators say the attack is random

Police say the woman was walking around 6:48 on Thursday morning when the man attacked her. Investigators don't know why she was targeted.

"He was spewing about some religious statements and talking about her meeting God and things of that nature," said Capt. Richard Meulenberg, Tulsa Police.

The woman is expected to survive the injuries, according to Tulsa Police.

Police are searching for the suspect

Officers have identified Jesse James Brown as the suspect in the stabbing. Investigators say Brown got away from the scene, but is now in custody.

Police used bicycles, drones and a helicopter in an attempt to find him.

"It makes it incredibly difficult to find because you can hide behind any tree, under some brush and you can be anywhere off the trail," said Meulenberg.

Turkey Mountain visitors are shocked to hear what happened

A summer morning on Turkey Mountain is a hotspot for people looking to enjoy the outdoors. Mountain biker Gary Coleman says the trails for walking and biking are second to none.

"There's usually enough people around that somebody would've been on top of him pretty quick if it'd been later in the day," said Coleman.

A scary reminder to stay on alert

Officers say this is a terrifying reminder to keep your guard up when out and about. In situations like exercising in the woods, police say it is a good idea to go in groups, let someone know where you are going and carry a phone with you.

"I definitely, going forward, will be watching out for myself and for other people," said Coleman.
