OCU mourns loss of graduate Hosam Saraya killed in Syria with family

Oklahoma Christian University has confirmed that one of its graduates, Hosam Saraya, was killed in Syria alongside his family.

The university said Saraya earned a Master of Business Administration from the school in 2016.

“We have heard reports about one of our Master’s program alums, Hosam Saraya. Hosam attended Oklahoma Christian from 2014 to 2016. We are heartbroken to hear of his loss and are praying fervently for healing and comfort,” the university said in a statement.

Federal authorities have confirmed Saraya’s death but have not released further details about the circumstances or who else was killed.

Social media accounts linked to Saraya show he founded Saraya Smart School, a virtual education initiative based in Syria.
