News On 6 brought home top honors at the 39th annual Heartland Emmy Awards in Oklahoma City, including a pair of major wins recognizing the station’s team and individual excellence.
Several News on 6 team members made the trip to the state capital Saturday night for the formal gala, hosted by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Heartland Chapter.
Before dinner, a special Silver Circle ceremony kicked off the night. News On 6’s LeAnne Taylor emceed the event, which recognizes television professionals who have made a significant impact on the industry for at least 25 years.
The Silver Circle honor is considered one of the most prestigious recognitions in regional television.
News On 6 colleagues arrived in style for the black-tie event. The evening's festivities began with a welcome from News on 6 Special Projects Executive Producer Mark Pinkerton, who serves on the Heartland Chapter’s Board of Governors.
Soon after, News On 6 at 9 a.m. was named the winner of the Emmy for Best Morning Newscast.
Later in the evening, News On 6 received one of the highest distinctions of the night: the Emmy for Overall Excellence. This award reflects a station’s total body of work, including storytelling, community service and journalism standards.
