Former Oklahoma standout Jeremiah Fears got his first taste of the NBA on Thursday. Fears, the number seven overall pick in the recent NBA Draft, played in his first Summer League game for the Pelicans in Las Vegas.
Fears played over 26 minutes while scoring 14 points on 4 of 12 shooting. The point guard added two assists, two steals, and two rebounds to his stat line.
At just 18 years old, Fears was one of the youngest players in the draft, and that youth showed at times by turning the ball over seven times.
After the game, News 9 sports reporter Steve McGehee caught up with Fears, and the former Sooner said, "We went out there and competed. I got to play with a lot of my new teammates for the first time. We played hard and did the best we could do."
Fears added, "Every game is going to be a lesson, so we have to take something away from every game and get better."
Fears and New Orleans will be back in action on Saturday night at 7:30 Central time against the Lakers.
