Heavy rains caused flash flooding across parts of Tulsa on Saturday morning, with some of the city’s most flood-prone intersections once again seeing stalled vehicles and emergency responses.

As of mid-afternoon, authorities say at least four vehicles were reported stuck in high water at 43rd and Sheridan. Authorities report that some drivers turned around just in time to avoid the floodwaters, while at least five cars became stuck in the water.

Authorities remind drivers to turn around before the water, not while in it. One vehicle managed to push through the water but died shortly after, bringing the total count to three disabled cars at that location earlier in the day.

Authorities reported another recurring flood zone at 31st and Yale, and also saw high water, with first responders present at the scene.

Authorities continue to urge drivers to avoid low-lying intersections and remember the phrase: Turn around, don’t drown.
