Several professional fireworks shows are planned for the 4th of July holiday, but some people plan to set off their own. Every city has different rules when it comes to shooting off fireworks. Here’s what you need to know for Independence Day.

Cities that require permits for fireworks in Oklahoma

Many cities in Oklahoma require residents to get a permit to set off fireworks for the 4th of July. Permits can be bought at the city clerk’s office, and sales typically end before the holiday. Residents who set off fireworks without a permit could face fines.

  1. Glenpool: Permit is $20. Fireworks are allowed 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4 and 5. 
  2. Catoosa: Permit is $25. Fireworks only allowed from noon to 11 p.m. on July 3, 4 and 5.
  3. Sapulpa: Permits can be purchased at City Hall. Fireworks can only be set off from noon to midnight on July 3, 4 and 5.
  4. Jenks: Permits are $20 per family, $50 per group of neighbors. Fireworks are only allowed between Noon and 11 p.m. on July 3 and 4.
  5. Claremore: Permits are $25. Fireworks can only be discharged between noon and 11p p.m. on July 3, 4 and 5. Permit sales end July 5.
  6. Bixby: Permits are $20. Fireworks are only allowed between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. on July 4 and 5.

Cities that do not require a permit to set off fireworks in Oklahoma

Several Oklahoma cities do not require permits to set off fireworks, but only allow them to be set off during certain times.

  1. Sand Springs: Fireworks only allowed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 3 and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4.
  2. Broken Arrow: Fireworks are only allowed between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. on July 3 and 4.
  3. Muskogee: Fireworks can only be set off from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4
  4. Coweta: Fireworks can only be discharged between 10 a.m. and midnight July 3 and 4.

Am I allowed to set off fireworks in Tulsa or Owasso this Fourth of July?

The cities of Tulsa and Owasso do not allow residents to set off fireworks within city limits. Owasso does allow the use of sparklers and fountains.
