The 4th annual celebration of the Mother Road is back in Tulsa this weekend. The Route 66 Road Fest is a celebration of the history, attractions, and, of course, the fun along the historic highway. There are 75 vendors from all over the country, and discussions of the past, present, and future of Route 66. One of the biggest attractions is the car show with more than 300 classic cars.
Between the classic car show, vendors, and activities like Rosey Daugherty’s interactive art, the Road Fest is a celebration that allows attendees to step into all things Route 66.
“There’s something for everyone here,” Daugherty said.
Ken Busby with the Route 66 Alliance says he hopes this year’s event builds momentum for next year’s centennial celebration and the future. Busby says that as they honor the history, the Road Fest will get people excited about what’s ahead.
“We want to make sure that we are launching the next hundred years, and then folks are gonna wanna be here participating 2027, 2028, 2029,” he said.
