Organizers of the "Route 66 Road Rally 2025" hope to bring some attention to small towns along the highway, but outside of big cities. The event, organized by Route 66 advocacy group "The Midpoint Corridor" is Saturday, June 7th.
The rally will have 25 checkpoints in 11 towns, between Sapulpa and Edmond, with a party and prizes awarded at 6 pm at The Chicken Shack in Arcadia. The drivers who hit the most checkpoints get a chance for a $1,000 prize, and will see plenty of history along the way.
"We're hoping to invite people from all places to see these unique checkpoints, meet the people along Route 66 and see what we can offer," said organizer Kristin Weaver, "It's going to be a really fun day trip."
She said people are already registering from out of state, as the summer travel season on Route 66 begins.
Registration for the untimed rally is $25 dollars per car.
