Tulsa City-County Library's (TCCL) Summer Reading Program is kicking off next week. Laura Raphael, Children's Services Coordinator for the library, said, "I want kids to fall in love with reading, and I want them to fall in love with the library, and this program really does do that." Here are 3 things to know in order to participate:

Get Signed Up

The 2025 Summer Reading Program goes from June 2 to July 31. To register, participants can visit any of TCCL's 24 branch libraries or the Bookmobile. They also have a free app, just search "Tulsa library" on Google Play or the Apple Store and download the "TCCL SRP App."

Reading for All Ages

The Summer Reading Program is for all ages. There are four different programs participants can register for based on their age or grade level. Reading goals and prizes vary depending on the program. Raphael said, "This is a way to have that relaxation of the summer but support a learning of some kind because they are still learning, they are still active, but the reading really does help keep their intellect up and their skills up."

  1. "Littles" - Birth to Pre-K
  2. "Children" - Kindergarten to 5th Grade
  3. "Tween/Teen" - 6th to 12th Grade
  4. "Adult" - 16 and older

What You Get

Prizes will be awarded starting on June 23. The "Littles" and "Children's" programs have a goal of 8 books to earn a medal, a coupon book, and be entered into the grand prize drawing. If they keep reading for a total of 20 books, participants will also earn a bonus prize.

Students in the "Tween/Teen" program must read or listen to six books by July 31 to be entered into the grand prize drawing for an iPad, laptop, Nintendo Switch console, wireless headphones, and more. For a full list of prizes, visit the TCCL website. Prizes must be picked up in person. "We want everybody to understand that this is their library and reading is important, but so is connecting with your community and getting to know your librarians," said Raphael.
