State wildlife officials are investigating a major fish kill in Garfield County after wastewater flowed into Skeleton Creek, killing fish along a 13.5-mile stretch of waterway.
Game wardens said the source of the contamination appears to be high ammonia levels coming from a nearby municipal wastewater treatment plant.
