On a very rainy day, the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles defeated the Omaha Mavericks, 8-1, to advance to the Summit League Championship for the fifth straight time.

Heading into Friday's matchup, the Golden Eagles as a pitching staff is full of good arms at their disposal to get them to the title game.

Starting off hot

In the opening frame, Oral Roberts got on the board almost immediately.

The third pitch of the game, Will Edmundson hit a solo shot out to left center over the fence for a homerun to give them the early advantage, 1-0.

Midway Men

Jack Schark decided to join in on the fun in the fourth inning.

A ball was destroyed to left field for a solo homerun to give ORU a two-run lead.

The bomb was Schark's ninth homer of the season.

Following that, in the fifth inning, a third home run for the Golden Eagles on the day.

Martell Davis at the plate with Keaton Campbell on base, sent a ball to left center field over the fence to increase their lead even more.

A few batters later, Wailele Kane-Yates doubled down the left field line to bring Cooper Combs home for a 5-0 lead in the fifth.

The Mavericks got their first run in the bottom of the frame to cut into the Golden Eagles' lead.

Down the Stretch

More Schark attack in the seventh, he hit an RBI single to left field and Edmundson scored, and immediately following, Makani Tanaka also singled, but down the right side, and Combs scored to end the inning, up 7-1.

In the final frame, Schark again singled up the middle to bring another Golden Eagle home.

Schark with three RBIs, three hits and one home run on the day.

Oral Roberts was able to hold on to their lead down the final four frames and grab the win over Omaha.

Brenden Asher threw a complete game and only allowed three hits for the Mavericks and struck out six.

ORU will take on North Dakota State for the second time in this tournament. The Jackrabbits beat the Golden Eagles on Thursday to advance to the title game.
