What Coweta residents can and can’t recycle at May 17 event

Residents can safely dispose of e-waste, tires, batteries and more during this one-day event.

Coweta residents will have a chance to responsibly recycle a wide range of household items during a special collection event on Saturday, May 17.

Hosted by The Metropolitan Environmental Trust (The M.e.t.) and sponsored by the City of Coweta, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Coweta M.e.t. Recycling Center, located at 14762 S. 298th East Avenue.

What’s accepted?

Residential drop-offs only — no commercial items will be accepted. The following items are allowed:

  1. E-waste: TVs ($26 fee), computer monitors ($10 fee), all other electronic waste is free. E-waste must weigh less than 50 pounds.
  2. Tires: Up to 10 per person. No rims, no tractor tires. No dealers allowed.
  3. Batteries: All types, including automotive and household.
  4. Cardboard
  5. Fire extinguishers

Residents can pre-pay for TV and monitor recycling online by visiting www.metrecycle.com and selecting “E-waste Payments.”

What’s not accepted?

To ensure safety and compliance, the following items will not be accepted:

  1. Large appliances
  2. Refrigerators
  3. Air conditioning units (due to refrigerant content)
