Stars take 2-1 series lead over Jets with win in Game 3

The Dallas Stars took a 2-1 lead in their second-round Western Conference playoff series Sunday night, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 in Game 3.

A controversial third-period goal by defenseman Alexander Petrovic gave Dallas the lead for good. After a lengthy review, officials ruled the puck had deflected off Petrovic and Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck before crossing the line. The decision gave Dallas a 3-2 lead with just over 16 minutes remaining.

1. Mikko Rantanen finished with one goal and two assists, bringing his postseason totals to nine goals and 18 points
2. Roope Hintz had one goal and one assist, opening the scoring with a power-play goal just 2:27 into the game
3. Wyatt Johnston added a late goal in the third period
4. Thomas Harley scored in the first period to give Dallas a 2-1 lead
5. Sam Steel and Mikael Granlund each recorded two assists
6. Jake Oettinger made 23 saves on 25 shots

Petrovic’s goal was his first playoff goal since 2016. He has now appeared in all 10 of the Stars’ postseason games after playing in just five during the regular season.
