A Tulsa man is letting go of his beloved 1969 Mustang to support the hospital that changed his life as a child.
Bryan Rowland is saying thank you in the best way he knows how: by giving up something he loves.
That something is a 1969 Mustang Fastback.
He has 41 years of memories in that car--from going off to college to his wedding day. But it reminds him most of his beloved father.
"The car was one way my dad showed me he loved me," he said. "Hanging out with my dad, it was like a time machine."
Now, someone else will get to make memories in that car. Bryan is giving it up to support something else he loves.
"Because sometimes just saying thank you just isn't enough."
Bryan reached out to Dennis Collins, host of the YouTube series 'Coffee Walk,' to help restore and sell the car. He agreed, and all the proceeds will go to Scottish Rite for Children.
That's the Dallas hospital where Bryan got surgery as a kid.
Bryan was born with Klippel-Feil Syndrome, a rare condition where his vertebrae were fused together.
"They changed my life when I was three," he said.
Turning an heirloom into hope for other kids...as a way to say thanks.
"I am going to miss the car, but it's a car. I have got great memories," he said.
Bryan doesn't know how much the collectors will get for the car, as it hasn't gone up for auction just yet.
