The Oklahoma City Thunder and OG&E unveiled a newly renovated basketball court at Pitts Park on Friday, part of a continued effort to invest in youth and community spaces across the state.
Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison, Thunder entertainers, and Oklahoma City Public Schools students helped kick off the celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The updated court features new paint, graphics, backboards, and rims, giving the space a fresh look and renewed energy.
Following the ceremony, students participated in basketball skills challenges led by Thunder youth coaches and visited the OG&E Thunderbolt, a mobile experience unit.
“We’re so excited for our partnership with the Thunder,” Camal Pennington, OKC Ward 7 Councilman, said at the event. “Every kid in every community, no matter what you look like, no matter how much money your family makes, deserves to be in a safe, healthy, thriving community.”
Originally dedicated in 2012, the Pitts Park court is one of 31 Thunder community courts across Oklahoma. The renovation is part of a multi-year plan between the Thunder and OG&E to restore and revitalize community courts statewide, providing young athletes with safe places to play and grow.
