The City of Hominy has declared a State of Emergency after a primary line to transport water was significantly damaged on Wednesday.

The City said the water supply from the dam is completely halted and all that is left is the 17 feet of water in the storage tank on the hill, but more water was being delivered to the plant.

"We are urging all residents to conserve water immediately and limit usage as much as possible over the next several days."

A concrete chute washed out due to excess water and appears to have collapsed and crushed the water line, the city said.

The city said engineers will begin working and assessing damage on Thursday, but the water supply will likely be depleted before repairs can be completed.

"We are also closely monitoring the condition of the dam. A small section has sloughed to the bottom, and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board will be on site tomorrow to evaluate the situation further," the city said.

The City said it is gathering bottled water and will set up at a location soon. Details still to be determined.
