Giving Back Through Comedy

After retiring from the Navy, Cayce Mautino began performing stand-up comedy. As he gained confidence on stage, he saw a way to use comedy as a tool for community support. This upcoming event is part of that mission.

Past comedy shows organized by Mautino have raised money to pay off student lunch debt, provide holiday gifts for students to give loved ones, and stock clothing for the school’s “Smile Shop,” which helps students in need.

Inspired by Spring Break Wildfires

The idea to support the Cleveland Fire Department stemmed from wildfires that swept through the region during spring break. Firefighters worked around the clock in extreme conditions as high winds fueled dangerous flames. Several departments, including Cleveland, Jennings and North 48, responded to fires that stretched resources thin.

Mautino lives outside of town, in an area dependent on rural fire services. He saw firsthand the toll the fires took and wanted to do more than send thank-you cards. The benefit show became his way of contributing directly to the response and recovery effort.

Building Community Through Service

Mautino, who also teaches middle school social studies, views events like this as a way to strengthen civic responsibility. Drawing on his military experience, he believes in building support systems wherever you live.

He says for him, patriotism is demonstrated not just through words or symbols, but through action—by taking care of one another and the place you call home.

How to Attend or Support

Tickets for the event can be purchased at Eventbrite. Additional event information is available on the Facebook event page and through Cayce Mautino’s comedy page.

Promotional codes are available:

  1. Newson6 for 50% off
  2. FirstResponders for a free ticket for first responders

Those unable to attend can still support the cause by purchasing a ticket. All proceeds will go directly to the Cleveland Fire Department.
