Crews have been on standby all day for rescues as flooding threatens several areas around Tulsa County.

Emergency management directors said many drivers are being irresponsible by driving into high water.

Flooded areas all over Tulsa County

The main concerns in Tulsa County on Wednesday were those near Bird Creek, Snake Creek, and Duck Creek.

Many roads all over the county were blocked off, and places like Mohawk Park and the Tulsa Zoo were closed as a precaution.

Consequences for driving through barricades

Joseph Kralicek with Tulsa Area Emergency Management said he knows which areas are most likely to flood and in what order.

He said crews were ready to put out barricades, but many drivers still ignored them and even moved them.

Kralicek said doing that could come with an up to $5000 fine and jail time if caught.

Prepared for everything

Emergency management directors said they are watching areas like the Lake Waxhoma dam that affects downstream creeks and rivers and they'll be monitoring it as long as needed.

They said this is life or death and people need to listen to flood warnings.
