Two people are in custody after Tulsa police say they refused to leave a condemned home Sunday evening near East Independence Street and North Hudson Avenue.

Officers say the man and woman, who had been cited for trespassing at the same location just weeks ago, eventually surrendered after negotiators intervened and officers deployed pepper balls.

Police Respond to Reports of Trespassers

Officers were called to the condemned home around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after neighbors reported seeing people inside. Police say the house had previously been boarded up but was repeatedly broken into over the past several weeks.

Repeat Offenders and Firearm Contraband Found

Investigators say the man and woman arrested Sunday had previously been cited for trespassing at the same property last month. During a search, police found contraband related to a firearm. Officers say the man is a convicted felon, making possession of any firearm-related items illegal.

City, Police Plan Next Steps for Property

Officers said they plan to work with the City of Tulsa to repair the damages and re-secure the condemned home. Police are urging residents to stay alert and report suspicious activity, emphasizing that community involvement is crucial to preventing repeat incidents.
