A summer packed with free events begins this weekend at Guthrie Green, starting with a performance from Los Angeles-based band Sammy Rae & Friends. The concert is the first in the park’s seasonal “Off the Cuff” series, pending weather conditions.

Here’s what to know about the summer fun ahead.

A Summer of Music and More

Guthrie Green’s “Off the Cuff” concert series returns this year, offering a diverse lineup of musicians. The first show, scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m., features Sammy Rae & Friends, known for their indie-alternative style and high-energy performances, and local band Count Tutu as the opener.

The park's booking and programming manager, Derek Combs, said this four-part series builds on past concerts featuring artists like Kurt Vile, Washed Out and Lucinda Williams.

Weekly Events and Family Favorites

Beyond the concerts, Guthrie Green has a full slate of weekly events, including:

  1. Food Truck Wednesdays
  2. Fitness on the Green
  3. Saturday Morning Cartoons
  4. Sunday Salsa

These events are free and open to all ages, and part of the park’s mission is to incorporate a variety of art and culture into downtown Tulsa life.

Fire, Acrobatics and Circus Cabaret

One of the summer’s most unique events returns in May: the Inspyral Fire Circus, scheduled for First Friday on May 2. The show features acrobatics, cabaret-style performance, and pyrotechnics.

“This is the second year they’ve brought the show to Guthrie Green,” said Combs. “It’s an amazing display of fire, movement and talent.”

What About the Weather?

While rain is in the forecast, organizers are optimistic the event will proceed as planned.

“The morning of, we take a look at the forecast and see what could move around if need be,” said Combs. “But I will say, and not to jinx us, we’ve been pretty lucky when it comes to big events versus the rain.” Based on weather the day of, organizers will determine whether they need to postpone or cancel the event.

More Music on the Way

If you miss the first part of the concert series, there are more chances to catch live music at the park. Tulsa-based band Broncho is scheduled to perform next in the series on June 14, launching a new album and kicking off their next tour.

What’s Next

Later this summer, Guthrie Green will also host the Blue Whale Comedy Festival in August, along with ongoing pop-ups and performances.
