American Theatre Company will premiere its latest production, "Always…Patsy Cline," on May 2 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. The musical tells the story of a heartfelt friendship between country legend Patsy Cline and a devoted fan from Texas.
The production highlights Cline’s crossover success from country to pop music, featuring some of her most iconic songs, including “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Walkin’ After Midnight.”
The show combines humor and emotion while offering a personal glimpse into Cline’s life through letters exchanged with her fan, Louise Seger.
Written by Ted Swindley, the musical is based on the real-life friendship between Patsy Cline and Louise Seger, who met in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961.
Their bond continued through frequent correspondence until Cline's tragic death in a 1963 plane crash at age 30. The story is set to a soundtrack of 27 beloved songs, creating a nostalgic tribute to the country music legend.
Tulsa vocalist Michele Ross takes on the role of Patsy Cline. Ross brings both vocal talent and personal connection to the role, channeling the spirit of Cline for local audiences.
The production is directed by Lisa Stefanic, who has a history with playwright Ted Swindley, having previously performed in the original "Honky Tonk Angels," another Swindley-written musical.
Performances of "Always…Patsy Cline" will be held at the Tulsa PAC on the following dates:
