The Indian Nations Council of Governments says they want residents to help shape the future of walking and biking across the Tulsa region.

As INCOG updates its GO Plan—Green Country’s regional bike and pedestrian master plan—open houses are scheduled this week in Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Broken Arrow and Tulsa.

The GO Plan aims to boost cycling and pedestrian safety, improve connections to existing trails and address barriers that limit active transportation options.

Here’s how the plan is taking shape and how the public can get involved.

Expanding on the GO Plan

A spokesperson with INCOG says The GO Plan, originally developed to guide pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure across the Tulsa metro, and is being updated in two phases.

The first phase focused on regional updates; the second expands the plan to include a new active transportation strategy for Sapulpa and updated plans for Sand Springs, Broken Arrow and Tulsa.

The updates will target increased safety, greater comfort and convenience for cyclists and pedestrians, and enhanced connectivity throughout the region.

What the Updates Include

According to INCOG, the new and revised plans will:

  1. Connect to the regional trail network
  2. Improve pedestrian and bicycle safety
  3. Identify barriers and propose solutions for better access
  4. Align local goals with the broader Tulsa regional GO Plan

The project is being developed in partnership with RDG Planning & Design, Garver and Venice Communications.

When and Where to Attend

Residents are encouraged to attend an open house in their area to learn more and provide feedback. Each event will offer a look at preliminary concepts and an opportunity to share ideas:

  1. Monday, April 21 | 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Sapulpa Library, 27 W. Dewey Ave.
  2. Tuesday, April 22 | 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Sand Springs Case Community Center, 1050 W. Wekiwa Road
  3. Wednesday, April 23 | 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Broken Arrow Public Safety Center, 1101 N. 6th St.
  4. Thursday, April 24 | 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Tulsa Zarrow Regional Library, 2224 W. 51st St.
  5. Thursday, April 24 | 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Tulsa Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Rd.

Why Public Input Matters

"INCOG is seeking public input on preliminary concepts and updates for the GO Plan for Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Broken Arrow and Tulsa,” said Thomas Dow, INCOG’s director of transportation. “Residents can help shape the future of our bicycle and pedestrian system by sharing their experiences at these open houses.”

What Comes Next?

INCOG says feedback from the open houses will inform the final GO Plan updates, which aim to serve both immediate needs and long-term transportation goals.

Once complete, the revised plans will guide investments and projects to create a more walkable, bike-friendly region.
