A recent Broken Arrow High School graduate is working to leave a legacy for his community through a license plate.

Parker Wagnon created a specialty plate to support Broken Arrow Public Schools. With the design approved by the state, the final step is getting enough people to apply by May 1 to launch production.

A Senior Project with Lasting Impact

Wagnon, who graduated in May 2023, began designing the plate during his senior year. He envisioned something that would instill pride in Broken Arrow and give back to the school district that shaped him.

Working with Sen. John Haste, Wagnon’s design was signed into law by Gov. Kevin Stitt. Now, he’s focused on outreach.

The Design: Bold and Local

The plate features a black background with the school district’s signature gold Broken Arrow logo.

Wagnon said he went through multiple drafts with input from the district before settling on the final look. His hope? The tag becomes a recognizable symbol of Broken Arrow pride.

“I really hope that when you cross into Broken Arrow and you see those plates around that you sense this community is different,” Wagnon said.

The Application Hurdle

To move forward, the state requires at least 100 completed applications. As of now, Wagnon says they’re only about a third of the way there.

He believes one big obstacle is that the application has to be printed and mailed—a process he believes has slowed down participation.

“I’ve heard from a lot of people that the applications are sitting on their desk,” Wagnon said. “People are hesitant because they’re worried about refunds if it doesn’t happen, but those will be issued.”

The cost is $41.15, which includes a mailing fee. Of that, $20 goes directly to Broken Arrow Public Schools.

Where to Find the Application

To make things easier, Wagnon has distributed printed applications to every Broken Arrow school site and local tag agency.

A digital version of the application can also be downloaded here and printed to help streamline the process for interested residents.

What’s Next?

If 100 applications are submitted by May 1, the custom tag will go into production, helping fund school programs and boost community pride.
