Oklahoma's T.W. Shannon has been appointed to serve as senior advisor to the Secretary for Rural Prosperity.

T.W. Shannon has been appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, to serve as senior advisor to the Secretary for Rural Prosperity.

Shannon previously served as speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2013 to 2014. At the time, he made history as the youngest person to hold the role, as well as the first Chickasaw and the first African American to serve as speaker.

He has worked extensively in banking and economic development, serving as CEO of Chickasaw Community Bank.

Shannon is a fellow of the Harvard Kennedy School and the Rodel Fellowship program. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Cameron University and a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University.
