Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Neutral site. One game. Winner gets bragging rights for the next 365 days. Bring it on!
The Bedlam softball teams have gone head-to-head every season since 1975, with the Sooners holding a 104-74 advantage in 178 meetings. This will be the first time the in-state rivals square off as nonconference opponents.
Big Stage
Wednesday evening’s game will be played at the Softball Capital of the World, Oklahoma City’s Devon Park, which also serves as the home of the Women’s College World Series. The matchup will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN2.
Last Meeting
The last time Oklahoma and Oklahoma State faced off was in May 2024, when the Sooners won 8-2. However, it was the Cowgirls who took the series in Norman with 6-3 and 6-2 wins in games one and two. It marked the first time since 1997 the Cowgirls won back-to-back games in Norman — and Oklahoma’s first regular-season home series loss since 2006.
How’s It Going?
Both the Sooners and Cowgirls are ranked in the top 25. Oklahoma, holding a 34-3 record this season, is ranked No. 2 in all major polls. Oklahoma State, 23-11 overall, is ranked No. 16 in the ESPN/USA Softball rankings, No. 17 in the NFCA coaches poll, and No. 18 in D1Softball’s rankings.
Norman Roots
Oklahoma State head coach Kenny Gajewski has deep ties to Norman. Gajewski played baseball for the Sooners, winning a national championship in 1994. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant with OU baseball and later worked in OU’s administration office from 1997 to 2006.
This is Gajewski’s 10th season in Stillwater. He has led the Cowgirls to the NCAA Tournament every year and to five Women’s College World Series appearances.
