Several police and firefighter organizations from across Oklahoma announced their endorsement of Jon Echols for Attorney General at a press conference Tuesday.
The organizations endorsing Echols include the Oklahoma State Fraternal Order of Police (OKFOP), the Oklahoma City Professional Firefighters Association, Local 157, and the Professional Firefighters of Oklahoma (PFFO).
These endorsements follow support from 18 sheriffs across the state, adding to a list of law enforcement and first responder endorsements for Echols’ campaign.
“I am running to be the chief law enforcement officer in the State of Oklahoma and having the support of so many amazing first responders is important for this job and is very humbling on a personal level,” Echols said.
OKFOP President Mark Nelson said, “With all of the leadership he has shown, the Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police is more than proud to announce you a hundred percent as you seek to be the next Attorney General of Oklahoma.”
Cameron Weems of the Oklahoma City Professional Firefighters also voiced his support during the press conference.
“I know that Jon Echols has the Fire Services’ back, and for that reason we're gonna have his back as well. I'm proud to announce that the Oklahoma City Firefighters and Statewide Firefighters are going to support and endorse Jon Echols for Attorney General,” Weems said.
Echols announced his run for Attorney General in February 2025.
He launched his campaign with the endorsement of 17 county sheriffs across the state, including Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III and Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado.
