Transportation Commission to hear updates on bridge safety, 'Traffic Henge' projects

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz will present commissioners with Gov. Kevin Stitt’s proclamation declaring April 21–25 as Oklahoma’s Work Zone Awareness Week and will discuss partnership events planned across the state.

Gatz will also update the commission on the condition of Oklahoma bridges following recommendations from the National Transportation Safety Board in response to the 2024 collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Maryland.

Commissioners will receive an update on the next phase of improvements to the I-44/US-75 interchange in Tulsa, also known as “Traffic Henge.” They will also hear the latest on the I-40/Douglas Boulevard interchange project in Midwest City.
