This week on the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch, Reporter Addie Crawford visits the Sam Noble Museum in Norman to chat about their weekly Crafts and Tales event for kids.
Museum Public Programs Coordinator Sarah Caldwell explains that this weekly event is meant to be an enriching activity for kids, and peak their interests for history and nature.
"It consists of a story, usually relating to science or natural history," Caldwell said. "We'll follow that up with a learning activity, and that can be anything from a speaker from a local group or even real specimens from the museum."
The activities and stories are curated, so that children can spark their curiosities.
"As a former educator, the 'aha' moment is really what it's all about. And we love seeing that," Caldwell said. "We have kiddos who come regularly and new ones who come week to week. And when they grab onto that one little thing that clicks for them, we know that we've made an impact and they're going to take that with them even outside of the museum."
The Crafts and Tales Sam Noble Museum event is every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
