2025 BE THE NEXT KHITS STAR CONTEST

OFFICIAL RULES

1. This Contest is open to all U.S. citizens and legal U.S. residents, at least 18 years of age, except as otherwise provided in these or specific contest rules. Employees of News On 6, the Tulsa CW, 106.9 K-HITS, and their affiliated parent and subsidiary companies, affiliated stations or companies, advertising and promotion agencies, sponsors, entities furnishing prizes or otherwise connected with the conduct of this Contest (“Contest Entities”) and their respective officers, directors, representatives and agents, their immediate families and members of their households, are all ineligible and may not register or participate in the Contest. For purposes of this contest, Griffin Media, News On 6, the Tulsa CW, 106.9 K-HITS, will collectively be referred to as “Contest Facilitator.”

2. This Contest is void where prohibited by law.

3. No purchase, registration fee or donation of money is required to register for this Contest.

4. By participating in this Contest, all entrants agree (a) to abide by these and any additional specific official rules and the decisions of the Contest Entities and contest officials designated by Contest Facilitator, which will be binding and final in all respects; (b) to the use of information by the Contest Entities for marketing and advertising purposes as allowed by applicable privacy policies and law; (c) to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Contest Entities and their officers, directors, employees and agents from any and all liability, claims, lawsuits, costs, expenses, fees, injuries (including death), losses, and damages resulting or alleged to result from participation in the Contest, acceptance or use of any prize, and/or from entrants fraudulent or otherwise wrongful acts or omissions; (d) not to sue the Contest Entities for any damages alleged to arise from winner's acceptance of or use of the prize(s); and (e) to the use of the entrants, name, voice, biography, and likeness by Contest Entities without further notice or compensation for promotion, advertising, filing, and dissemination purposes, except where otherwise prohibited by law.

5. “Contest Officials” designated by the management of Contest Facilitator shall be responsible for interpretation and enforcement of the contest rules.

6. Contest Officials shall have the sole right to disqualify any participant for violation of these rules or any other published rules applicable to a specific contest, and to resolve all disputes in their sole discretion. Contest Entities (a) make no warranty, guaranty or representation of any kind concerning any prize; (b) disclaim any implied warranty and (c) are not liable for injuries, losses or damages arising or alleged to arise out of any persons participation in the Contest. All disputes will be resolved under applicable Oklahoma laws.

7. Contest Entities are not responsible for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, undelivered, undeliverable, incomplete, or unreadable entries. Contest Entities are not responsible for lost entries due to telephonic or electronic malfunctions. Contest Officials may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in their sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other entrants or Contest Entities representatives. If for any reason this Contest is not capable of running as planned as a result of any causes beyond the reasonable control of Contest Entities including but not limited to tampering, unauthorized intervention or fraud which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, then, Contest Officials reserve the right at their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. The rules can be modified at any time without notice.

8. Contest Officials reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to alter, change, cancel or suspend this Contest, for any reason whatsoever, without prior notification. Contest Officials further reserve the right to amend or change these Official Rules and conditions of entry at any time, in Contest Officials’ sole discretion.

9. HOW TO ENTER: To enter and participate in this Contest, participant must comply with the following process:

A. Phase 1 – Entry Phase: Starting Monday, March 31, 2025, a participant must submit an online Entry Form with an attached video or audio file, no longer than 2-minutes, of participant introducing themselves, as well as sharing a short and engaging story. All Entry Forms must be completed and submitted by April 18, 2025, in order to be included in the contest. You must provide all information requested in the entry form as well as the attached video. All entries become the property of CONTEST FACILITATOR and will not be acknowledged or returned. By submitting your entry, you agree that that CONTEST OFFICIALS, in its sole discretion, may remove your entry and disqualify you from the Contest if it believes, in its sole and absolute discretion, that your entry fails to conform to these Official Rules or it determines the entry to be inappropriate for any other reason. CONTEST OFFICIALS further reserves the right to use any information submitted by any participant in any form of media whatsoever without compensation, including as more specifically described in these Official Rules. Only those entries physically received prior to the end of the Contest Entry Period will be eligible to participate in the Contest. All times are measured by Sponsor’s clock. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt; screen shots or confirming emails will not be accepted as proof of receipt. LIMIT ONE (1) ENTRY PER PERSON/PER EMAIL ADDRESS. By entering the Contest, participants agree to receive KHITS digital newsletter via e-mail. Participants who do not wish to receive e-mails from KHITS may opt out upon receipt of the first email or any email thereafter by following the opt-out instructions provided therein.

B. Phase 2 – Audition Phase: The Audition Phase will be split up into different rounds, as follows:

Round 1 – First Impression: Starting April 7, 2025, through April 18, 2025, Contest Officials will review all valid entries received. If an entry successfully passes the initial evaluation by the Contest Officials, the audio portion of such entry will be featured during the “Be the Next KHITS Stary” on 106.9 KHITS. These audio files will also be uploaded to the website at www.khits.com, where listeners will be encouraged to vote for their top 10 favorite entries. During the First Impression round, entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria: (a) energy, (b) clarity, and (c) audience connection. The Contest Officials will combine the voting results from listeners with the Judges' scores, and the top five (5) First Impression Finalists will be selected to advance to the next round.

Round 2 – The Rapid-Fire Challenge: During this round, each finalist will schedule an on-air phone interview in which they will be required to improvise responses to unpredictable topics, including but not limited to breaking news, current sports, and viral trends. Participants will be evaluated in the Rapid-Fire Challenge based on the following criteria: (a) quick thinking, (b) humor, and (c) adaptability. All finalists participating in Round 2 will be featured online at www.khits.com, where listeners will be invited to vote for their top three (3) favorite entries. The Contest Officials will combine the listener voting results with the Judges' scores, and the top three (3) finalists will be selected to advance to the next round.

Final Round – Final Showdown: During this round, each Finalist will schedule a one-hour guest host session, during which they will co-host with the main show's anchor, and will include audience call-ins. Finalists participating in this round will be evaluated based on their banter, chemistry, and ability to maintain a flowing conversation. All finalists in the Final Showdown will be featured online at www.khits.com, where listeners will be invited to vote for their top favorite entry. The Contest Officials will combine the listener voting results with the Judges' scores, and the top favorite will be selected as the winner and will receive the title of “KHITS Next BIG Star.”

10. EXPENSES: All participants in this contest are responsible for any and all costs associated with being selected as a Finalist and/or a Winner. These costs could include, but are not limited to, travel, lodging, food, or any other expenses that might be incurred as part of participating in this contest.  

11. PRIZE: One (1) Winner will be selected, as more specifically outlined above, by Contest Officials. The winner will receive a 3-hour guest host slot on the Chubbs Show (date and time to be determined), and a KHITS Promotional Prize Pack. Total Approx. Prize Value: $100.

12. EMPLOYMENT:  Winning this contest does not imply or equate to a job offer. It is solely for entertainment purposes.

13. In the event of any of the following, the prize(s) will be awarded to an alternate winner:

a. Prizewinner cannot be reached within twenty-four (24) hours of winner selection;

b. Contest Facilitator is unable to leave a voicemail due to a full voicemail box or because the mailbox is not properly set-up; 

c. Prizewinner does not return a phone call within forty-eight (48) hours of a message left by Contest Facilitator;

d. Prizewinner does not timely return the signed Statement of Prizewinner; 

e. Prizewinner is determined not to be an eligible winner; or

g. Any other reasons set forth in these rules. 

14. No transfer, substitution, or cash equivalent for prizes will be allowed except at the Contest Entities' sole discretion due to prize unavailability. All federal, state, or other tax liabilities (including income taxes), and subsequent or related expenses such as, but not limited to, gasoline, insurance, and maintenance arising from the award of a prize from this Contest will be the sole responsibility of each prize winner. Any prize awarded in this Contest must be claimed within ten (10) working days of winner's notification by Contest Facilitator or sooner, depending upon the specific prize or contest.

15. Winner(s) will be notified by telephone or email. Winner(s) must sign and return a Statement of Prizewinner, Official Rules, and Acknowledgment (“Documents”) provided by Contest Facilitator. The signed documents must be received by Contest Facilitator within ten (10) days of the winner's notification. Winner(s) must show photo identification to claim prizes. Contest Facilitator reserves the right to require additional identification and may choose to deny awarding the prize based on falsification of identification or fraud. In the event winner receives, or has already received, a prize from any other contest(s) sponsored by Griffin Media, Contest Facilitator and/or any of their subsidiaries, during the 2025 calendar year, such prize values will be combined with this prize value. If the total value of all prizes received during 2025 exceeds $600, winner will receive a Form 1099 from Griffin Media for the 2025 calendar year.

16. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries and is determined by personality traits as described, herein.
