Oklahoma City will host canoe slalom and softball events during the 2028 Olympics after a vote by the Los Angeles City Council.

News 9 first reported this plan in 2024, but on Friday, the council officially voted and approved the venue plans for all Olympic events.

Organizers of the Los Angeles-based Games said they are prioritizing sustainability and utilizing existing world-class venues, making Oklahoma City a natural fit.

Riversport OKC, known for its state-of-the-art whitewater course, is set to host canoe slalom events.

Softball events will be held at Devon Park, a premier facility that has hosted numerous national and international competitions.
