Jacob Mayhugh, charged with the 2024 murders of Patty, James, and Shayla Mayhugh in Chickasha, has been formally sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without parole.
Mayhugh pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in December 2024. Mayhugh waived all rights to appeal, parole, or commutation.
The state originally sought the death penalty, but the victim's family preferred a quicker resolution. The District Attorney stated that Mayhugh's exact motive may never be fully understood.

Chickasha police responded to a 911 call about shell casings found outside of a home and possible bodies inside. Three victims, Patty, James, and Shayla Mayhugh, were found shot to death.
An AR-15, which was later traced to Jacob Mayhugh, was found in the entryway, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation located and arrested Mayhugh in Oklahoma City's Bricktown district, and was found with ammunition and cash inside of his vehicle.
Mayhugh allegedly confessed to the murders and indicated plans for further violence. Mayhugh was then charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
Family members of the victims spoke publicly, expressing grief and appreciation for community support in the aftermath of the murders.
