On the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch, News 9 speaks to organizing members of the World Mission Society Church of God Worldwide Blood Drive happening in Oklahoma City.

Overseer Eddie Albanez said that one donated pint of blood can save three lives, and that their church is holding these blood drives for Passover, but will be held on Sunday, Mar. 23.

"Our churches all around the world are holding this worldwide blood drive simultaneously at this time. We have churches in 175 countries, with 3.7 million registered members," he said.

Volunteer Event Coordinator Keisha Moss said she expects a big turnout and have a lot of things planned for those who attend the event.

"We expect 150 volunteers from Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas to come out," Moss said. "Our goal is to collect at least 75 units of blood, which can save more than 200 lives."

The Oklahoma Blood Institute announced that there is a nationwide blood shortage, so the church is organizing these events to help.

"Our church has has hosted more than 1,500 blood drives around the world resulting in at least 120,000 blood donations," Moss said.

The World Mission Society Church of God's Worldwide blood drive will be held on Sunday, Mar. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3629 NW 25th Street in Oklahoma City.
