The Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office is preparing to assess the damage to structures impacted by recent wildfires.
Officials with the assessor's office say they are currently reviewing news reports, videos, and other data to develop a plan for evaluating affected properties.
Once the extent of the damage is determined, field appraisers will visit every impacted property to ensure property owners receive accurate assessments.
The assessor's office says the goal is to document losses promptly, as reductions in property value can lead to lower property taxes, helping residents financially recover.
Assessments will begin as soon as possible to provide relief to those affected.
