Residents of Pecan Hill in Stillwater are returning to their neighborhood for the first time after Friday’s devastating wildfires, facing the reality of what was lost. Some homes remain untouched, while others have been reduced to ashes in a display of the fire’s unpredictable destruction.

“This is what we’ve been seeing all morning—charred grass right up to a front door, but the house is still standing, while the one next to it is gone,” said News 9’s Cameron Joyner, reporting live from the scene.

City officials estimate that 50 or more structures were lost in the fires. As residents begin to assess the damage, neighbors are coming together with a common sentiment echoing throughout the community: Stillwater Strong.

Officials continue to survey the area, and residents will spend the coming days determining how to move forward. More updates are expected as recovery efforts begin.
