Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hawks guard Trae Young have been named the NBA Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Gilgeous-Alexander earned the honor for the Western Conference, while for Sooner Trae Young wins in the East.

Gilgeous-Alexander, considered to be the MVP frontrunner, put up impressive numbers, averaging 44.0 points, 6.7 assists, 5.0 rebounds. Make that 58 straight games for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scoring over 20 points, with 40 points, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 127-103 win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. With eight assists and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, Gilgeous-Alexander helped the Thunder extend their winning streak to seven, improving to 53-11. Jalen Williams added 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
SGA currently leads the league in scoring with a career-high 32.9 points per game. The Thunder currently have a 12-game lead over the Lakers and Nuggets and have the opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight or a Golden State loss.
