Gathering Place is home to the largest collection of cherry blossoms in Oklahoma, with more than 70 trees and an educational exhibit highlighting their cultural significance. The trees, which originate from Japan, are beginning their blooming process, currently in the first stage of six.
Peak Bloom Timing
According to Gathering Place horticulturists, the cherry blossoms are expected to reach full bloom between March 20-23, though timing could vary depending on weather conditions. The bloom typically lasts for several days to a week.
Interactive Exhibit
Visitors can explore an exhibit dedicated to the history of cherry blossoms and their cultural importance. The exhibit also includes interactive elements such as a community cherry tree, where guests can decorate blossoms with messages about their hopes for 2025. Additionally, visitors can send cherry blossom-themed postcards to loved ones.
Spring Break Activities
As spring break approaches, Gathering Place is offering nine days of events starting Saturday. Activities include a magic show, field day games, a maker space for crafts, and more entertainment throughout the week.
Guests are encouraged to visit the park regularly to witness the gradual transformation of the cherry blossoms as they approach full bloom.
