No. 1 Sooners soar in win over Arkansas Razorbacks

The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team earned its second highest score of the season in a 197.825-195.975 victory over No. 13 Arkansas Friday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team earned its second highest score of the season in a 197.825-195.975 victory over No. 13 Arkansas Friday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

Jordan Bowers and Faith Torrez tied for the all-around title with matching 39.725s, tied for the highest scores in the SEC this season. The pair claimed a every event title with Torrez taking home vault (9.95) and bars (9.95) and Bowers winning beam (9.95) and floor (9.95). Audrey Davis also earned a share of the bars title as she tied Torrez with a 9.95.

OU used its second highest vault score of the season to take a 49.400-48.850 lead after the first rotation. Torrez's stuck Yurchenko 1.5 in the No. 2 spot was the highlight of the rotation as the junior tied her career high with a 9.95. The other 9.9 score of the rotation was Bowers who notched a 9.9 in the No. 5 spot on a big 1.5. Keira Wells added a 9.875 in the No. 4 spot, while Davis anchored with a 9.850. Lily Pederson and Addison Fatta each tallied 9.825s on their 1.5s.

A big 49.675 on bars pushed the Sooners to a 99.075-97.900 lead at the halfway point. For the 20th time in her career Davis earned a 9.95 on the event after a gorgeous routine and stuck dismount. Torrez nailed her double layout dismount for her second 9.95 of the meet. The Sooners got a trio of 9.925s in the rotation from Pederson, Fatta and Bowers with Fatta earning a career high. Making her collegiate debut was Kelsey Slade who showed off strong handstands and a double layout dismount for a 9.825.

Some uncharacteristic mistakes on beam led to a 49.300 to give OU a 148.375-146.900 lead with one rotation to go. A stuck dismount from Bowers after a stunning routine earned the senior a 9.95 in the No. 4 spot. Torrez showed off a stick of her own for a 9.925 in the anchor position. Davis was steady in the leadoff spot for a 9.825, followed by a 9.825 from Wells. Fatta and Pederson recorded a 9.775 and 9.750, respectively.

OU closed out the meet with a 49.450 on floor. Bowers led the way with her dynamic tumbling and captivating choreography for a 9.95. Torrez's incredible opening double layout closed out the night on a high note as she earned a 9.9 in the anchor spot. Davis's spunky personality was on display as she led things off with a 9.875. Fatta closed out her night in the all-around with a 9.800 in the No. 2 spot. Elle Mueller's intensity shined as she showed off a strong double back in her opening pass for a 9.850 in the No. 3 spot. Pederson's unique first pass was showcased as she earned a 9.875.

The Sooners will be back inside Lloyd Noble Center on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:15 p.m. CT when they host Kentucky for Alumni Night.
