Country music icon Toby Keith, who passed away in early 2024, spoke candidly about his dedication to supporting children battling cancer in his home state of Oklahoma during his final television interview with News 9’s Robin Marsh.
The Toby Keith Foundation has since announced they are raising funds for a $10 million endowment to ensure the future of its safe haven for families dealing with pediatric cancer.
The OK Kid's Korral is a free home away from home for children fighting cancer in Oklahoma.
It was founded to help ease the burden of that fight for families and provide them with a place to stay.
“It's Ritz Carlton meets Disney World, and it's free, but I still got to raise the money every year, Keith said.
Now that Toby has passed, the Toby Keith Foundation says the endowment, with an initial goal of $10 million, will keep the Korral's future financially secure.
Juliet Nees-Bright, the executive director of The Toby Keith Foundation, said the endowment means the money raised will keep growing over time with interest.
“The OK Kid's Korral is going to be around longer than I’m around, and it is going to be able to help kids with cancer for years and years to come,” Nees-Bright said.
