The Oklahoma City Thunder made an early summer splash. On Thursday, the Thunder traded away guard Josh Giddey in exchange for Chicago Guard Alex Caruso.
On Friday, Thunder General Manager Sam Presti shared why he made the trade. Our Thunder Reporter Steve McGehee joined News 9 from the Korn Ferry Event in Norman.
You know it’s the off-season when you're talking Thunder on the golf course. Steve said he was 50/50 on trading away Josh this summer, and that he thinks it’s a great trade for both sides. Josh is a point guard, but so is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander so the Thunder tried their best to fit him into their plans. Sam’s off-season plans for the Thunder – diminished the need for Giddey.
Sam added that Josh has All-Star potential, and better days are ahead for Josh in Chicago under Head Coach Billy Donovan.
