Just two seasons ago, the Oklahoma City Thunder lost 58 games. Then, just two years later in 2024, they wrapped up the regular season with 57 wins and they became the youngest team to ever earn the number one seed in the Western Conference.
The Thunder reached the Western Conference semifinals, falling to the Dallas Mavericks in six games.
The Director of the Thunder, Sam Presti, sees this as just the beginning.
“One of the things we learned is that we have a really good base to work with,” Presti said in a press conference Tuesday. “If we went down the path like a more performative acquisition, like a lot of people were asking for, I don’t think we would know nearly enough about the team. I think we learned that we do have some guys in Chet [Holmgren] and Jalen [Williams] that are certainly not there yet, but I wouldn’t bet against them.”
