Weldon Tisdale Sr. To Lead Gatesway Foundation Of Broken Arrow

A Green Country non-profit which is facing serious financial problems hopes its new leader can help right the ship. The Gatesway Foundation announced January 11 its new CEO Weldon Tisdale Sr. will take charge of a re-tooled non-profit.

The non-profit will also implement a new advisory group to oversee finances.

Gatesway said that although Oklahoma has one of the highest per-capita rates of residents with disabilities, we rank 44th when it comes to how Medicaid funds are used to serve them.

“That’s just not good enough," said Tisdale, a pastor who recently retired from serving at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Tulsa.

"Our clients, as well as all those Oklahomans languishing on waiting lists for years, deserve the same quality of life as you or I.

"I hope to take up Helen Gates’ mantle and reintroduce this organization and its vital mission to the public. Like they did in the ‘60s, I’m confident the generous donors of Tulsa, Broken Arrow, the state and the nation will rally around our clients and our mission.”

Tulsa philanthropists Sarah and John Graves are providing funding for Tisdale's position.

“Sarah and I felt there is no one who could bring more to this new position than Weldon Tisdale,” Graves said.

“He has our deep gratitude for taking on this exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of so many,”
Graves said.
