COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Joseph Jones scores 18 points to lead 23rd-ranked Texas A&M to a 60-52 win in a defensive battle with Oklahoma today.
The Aggies led by one when Donald Sloan got a steal and cut through the lane for a layup that made it 54-51 with just less than 2 minutes remaining. Two free throws by Sloan about a minute earlier had given the Aggies the lead.
It is the third straight win for Texas A&M and breaks a 3-game winning streak for OU, which falls to 15-6 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 Conference play.
Texas A&M is 18-4 and 4-3.
A scary moment came with less than a minute to go when Jones and OU freshman Blake Griffin collided in mid-air trying to catch an inbound pass. Both crashed to the court, but got up quickly and appeared to be unhurt.
David Godbold led the Sooners with a career-high 22 points, including six 3-pointers.
